Grand Theater Opening Night: "The Dress Makers" Starring Sally Rand.

The WGT receives the State of Illinois Historic Preservation Grant. It is the first of its kind given by the State since the 1980's.

September 2001

The Electricians' Union Grant was presented

October 19, 2001

Theater generously Donated to the non-profit Grand Theater Corporation by Merle Rathje, Margaret Rathje, Bill Rathje, Ed Coombs, June Anderson, Jim Rumsey, Society of the Little Flower, Mother Cabrini League, and Benedictine Sisters

December 2001

Emergency Restoration and Repairs to roof, brickwork and masonry completed.

August 25, 2005

Wheaton Grand receives National Register of Historic Places Listing

October 2005

Engaged Professional Theater Consultant and Preservationist Ray Shepardson to oversee the project management for restoration the WGT.

April 1, 2006

WGT is closed for operation as a precursor to a full restoration phase.
